IT'S CHRISTMAS TIME
Tonight, I will be making gingerbread cookies. I just bought molasses, and jolly ranchers (for the glass windows.) But first things first: big cup of Christmas brew. No, not coffee, not this time. Now is the time for holiday tea: "Earl Gray."

Wait a minute...I don't really feel like baking. I feel like reading children's books with large print and beautiful illustrations.

UNFINISHED PAINTINGS
This is my "Lady with the Grand Marnier Bottle" that started as "The Lady Wearing a Hat and Sitting in a Plastic Garden Chair".
The process of painting this painting is taking me on a jurney to use my unexplored talent for discovering new and important persons, feelings, places.

"we are what we think"
--We are what we think
All that we are arises with our
thought
With our thoughts we make the
world.
Speak and act with an impure mind
And trouble will follow you
As the wheel follows the ox that
draws the cart.
We are what we think
All that we are arises with our
thought
With our thoughts we make the
world.
Speak or act with a pure mind
And happiness will follow you
As your shadow, unshakable.

MY HALLOWEEN
I like Halloween. That's why I did all those things: baked Halloween snacks in the shape of fingers with dirty fingernails; bought the witch hat with hair attached; carved the pumpkin; dressed as Miss Margo the Witch; baked brownies with gummy worms; went to work and brought stuff to cheer my students; gave out candy to trick-o-treaters; took photos and made drawings with Halloween themes.

SPANISH MOSS & LIVE OAK SKETCH
Every year, around October, I look for acorns. There are plenty of Live Oak trees where I live. The Spanish moss hangs from their branches and sometimes, when the right amount of light falls on the mossy limbs, they look like they are being visited by angels.

COFFEE UNDER THE PALM TREE
“Sketches from my Journals”, © 2011 Malgorzata Kawashima
I like that there are 24 hour coffee places, and that the coffee they are selling is drinkable, unlike the coffee served by some diners that are "never closed", but dare to sell bad brew. In tribute to the places that sell a decent cup of java, I am posting a couple of sketches produced in a parking lot of one such establishment while hydrating myself with their medium latte with one sugar:)
